In my work, I seek to create a place of reflection – to raise the question of where we are from while also instilling the act of listening, prayer, and meditation through the process of creation. My work is a query of identity and origin – cultural, ethnic, geographical, spiritual, emotional, physical, and intellectual – that explores the experience of being human alongside of the spiritual world for anchors, meaning, metaphor, and connection.
I give thanks to the elders of the indigenous world who have shared their wisdom and traditions with me and my teachers over the years. May I arrive each day with a clean slate of heart and mind to listen to what is being asked of me and in a way that respects all that has been gifted to me. I also give thanks to my family – blood and chosen – for shaping my life as they have.
